・中川氏は、政界きっての親台派として知られている。農水大臣再登板の際には、中華民国総統であった李登輝から祝意が寄せられている。今回の辞任についても、台湾メディアは同情的である。

・中川氏は、２００７年に保守派の議員で集まる勉強会「真・保守政策研究会」を設立するにあたってのまとめ役となった。
